Girls don’t go to camp alone. Often times, a little part of their parents comes with them too. It can be hard sending your child off to camp. But don’t worry. Your child is in excellent hands. For generations, Skyland has helped girls adjust to being away from home. We help the parents too!
Visitors are welcome at any time during the summer, a rare thing with camps these days. Just advise us of your visit so we can set a place at the dining room table for you and make sure your girl is on campus.
Our staff is well-trained and actively engaged in your daughter’s development and well-being. And, unlike other camps, our office is happy to field calls from you if you want to ask us how your daughter is adjusting. Also we have our “Phone-home Sundays”. If you send a cell phone with your camper and check it in with us at registration, we will encourage her to call home on Sunday. All cell phones must be checked in at admission if brought to camp. If you don’t have a cell phone to send, don’t worry. We will arrange a time for her to call on our land line.
Everyone looks forward to our daily “mail call” so send those letters! Email messages will be delivered as well for a small printing fee, so type away. Packages are not allowed unless sent directly to the office where they will be opened and put into a very festive gift bag. No food or candy please!
And, we do our best to “unplug” the campers and ourselves. In our technology-driven world, it is one of the greatest gifts we can give parents and children alike. No computers, handheld devices or electronic games are allowed.
It is our commitment to make you, our parents, comfortable that you aren’t completely out of touch. Soon you’ll see why girls and parents alike can’t wait for another Skyland summer.
